Damn how the great Martin Garrix adore this type of music and artist! Someday I'll go to one of your Martin shows! I PROMISE
Avicii and Garrix shared a special bond working together. Haunting Avicii vibes @ 2:56 . Legends never die, they live on through their music, and their work that inspires the NEXT GEN OF LEGENDS Side note! Shared works include "Waiting For Love" they both produced and premiered at Ultra 2015
This kept me going in 2020. Martin has the energy, drive and to be honest courage to play some damn hard mixes... “let me see your fucking hands in the air!”
It has often been said that Americans are "freedom-loving people" who value and seek to empower the individual American is often quoted as the land of democracy, and true to that, American has often carried itself as the self-appointed watchdog for democracy and democratic principles. However, the analysis of the American people's history creates a distorted image of the concept of freedom. From this historical reference, it is arguable if Americans love freedom or if it is an idea that they find ornamental to their façade of superiority. America claims to be a land of 'freedom-loving people' who value and seek to empower the individuals, but the history of America, tracing to the current predicament, especially on the treatment of its minority, shows that it is not a land of freedom. First, America has a deep-seated system of hypocrisy for the love of freedom that permeates most of its crucial systems of governance, and more so, in its literature. Education is hailed as the fundamental tool of emancipating the mind. Yet, at its inception, the American literature was deliberately created to alienate the minority group, ostensibly to keep them enslaved and under the control of their masters. In this context, the American people are thus not advocating freedom. In the preface of "The Norton Anthology of African American Literature," Henry Luis Gates and Valerie Smith write: "The text of the Western letter refused to speak to the person of the African descent" (Gates and Smith, xxviii). However, the African Americans' ability, as the definite symbol of minorities, attests that they were more than able to represent themselves and articulate their ideas systematically and clearly. Gates and Smith assert that: "In the history of the world's greatest literature, few traditions have origins as curious as that created by African slaves and ex-slaves writing in the English language" (xxvii). This statement attests that the curious mind of the African Americans in the eighteenth century desired to be freed. When they got the chance in 1865 from the Emancipation Proclamation, they thrived. The fact that the American majority tried to subdue the subdued minority is evidence of America's hypocrisy that they are a freedom-loving nation. Secondly, America has campaigned very hard to ensure that a majority of its minority groups do not rise to notable positions, yet, there is historical evidence suggesting that these groups are capable, willing, and ready to assist in the service of their nation through their accomplishments. Perhaps, Etheridge Knight's "Hard Rock Returns to Prison from the Hospital of the Criminally Insane" is a testament to the fact. Etheridge writes: "Hard Rock / was / "known not to take no shit from nobody," and he had the scars to prove it" (Gates and Smith 1866). Ethridge paints a picture of a string of African Americans thriving under the difficult conditions of confinement in prison and has adopted a 'no-nonsense' attitude in defense of himself. From the name of the character- Hard Rock, Etheridge likes the African American to a hardened rock, a strong persona in mind, body, and spirit. Yet, Etheridge has a sad ending for his character. Hard Rock, who does not tolerate nonsense, is lobotomized. Etheridge writes: "The word / was / that Hard Rock wasn't a mean nigger Anymore, that the doctors had bored a hole in his head, cut out part of his brain, and shot electricity" (Gates and Smith 1866). Etheridge's reference is to the system's barbarity, where a strong black man is rendered useless by strict legal codes, arrests, police brutality, and racial discrimination. The reference here is that America does not promote its people's freedom, especially for the minority groups. Furthermore, America has treated its women differently, propagating chauvinistic principles at the expense of the growth of half of its potentially productive population. The tragedy is greater for the minority women, who suffer a double tragedy, first, for being a woman, and secondly, for being among the minority. Maya Angelou's autobiography "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" is a testament to this double tragedy. Angelou writes: "The Black female is assaulted in her tender years by all those common forces of nature at the same time that she is caught in the tripartite crossfire of masculine prejudice, white illogical hate and Black lack of power" (Gates and Smith 2040). Maya Angelou's statement sums up the predicament of the modern-day woman, and sadly, it is her biography, written about the situation in the 1940s when the American woman and the black woman was a victim of the male prejudices that denied her the most basic of rights: education, emasculation, and denial of opportunities. Angelou also notes the systemic racism that plagued her period, directed at the women and men, but with far-reaching consequences for the woman. She states: "It was awful to be Negro and have no control over my life. It was brutal to be young and already trained to sit quietly and listen to charges brought against my color with no chance of defense." (Gates and Smith 2046). Angelou's statement shows that America's claim of a freedom-loving people is faux, for even the most vulnerable women of its nation, it subjected to mental and physical torture, judging her for being black. These racist historical references and their prevalence to date attest that America is not the freedom-land it claims. In summary, America claims to be a land of 'freedom-loving people' who value and seek to empower its people, but the history of America, tracing back and culminating to the current predicament, especially on the treatment of its minority, shows that it is not a land of freedom. The claim of a freedom-loving nation is more pronounced as political rhetoric and an assertion made to uphold the American image to export and watch over other nations who exploit its people. However, its system analysis shows that it is still strangling its minority with unequal job opportunities, discrimination in hiring, rampant school segregation, bias treatment even in medicine, police brutality directed to its minority, and a general lack of concern to promote reparations. America is, therefore, still far from being a freedom-loving people, at least until they start treating its minority as Americans. Work Cited Gates, Henry Louis, and Valerie A, Smith.
